It's the people that make Private White V.C. such a unique force.

We are blessed with over 20 nationalities from all corners of the globe and this kaleidoscopic culture is one of our greatest strengths.

Hazel & John

13 Years Of Service

Hazel came to PWVC with a breadth of experience built up over many years. “I love it here as much as the first day because of the hustle and bustle of factory life. Everyone is family rather than colleagues. To see the products we make from start to finish is a real achievement. I’m born and bred here; England, Manchester and Salford are my roots - they always will be. From the factory window, I can see the house where my mum used to live. I’d never move abroad, I’m a true Salfordian girl at heart. Working in the last remaining factory in Salford makes me extremely proud. That’s an amazing achievement from the bosses to keep this place going. John and I met through work back in 2011. Even though we’re husband and wife, I don’t cavort with him during factory hours. Work is work and my married life is my married life.”

Faisal

10 Years Of Service

Faisal is a skilled maker responsible for handcrafting some of our most-loved garments including our Ventile® Macs and Harringtons, as well as helping out with studding and pressing. “I grew up in Pakistan and moved to Stockport back in 2006. I enjoy living in Manchester, especially because I support Manchester United. I like all aspects of my role, there is so much variety. No two days are the same. My favourite piece this season is the Donegal Overcoat. It’s such a cool style. Such a cool coat.”

Ahmed

12 Years Of Service

Ahmed is our outerwear supervisor responsible for setting the pace and standards. He also takes the lead when it comes to training new machinists. To say he is crucial to creating our garments is an understatement. “I love working as part of a team, having honed my craft for years and teaching my skills to others. Outside of work, when I’m not looking after my 2 children, I enjoy walking in the Peak District just outside of Manchester.”

We enlist only the most-skilled, local craftsmen. All of whom have honed their craft with us over the years, and in some cases decades.

Every maker has a story…

Joanna

8 Years Of Service

“I do a bit of everything in the finishing department from buttoning to cleaning garments, QC, operating pocket machines, seam sealing and studding. Everyday I’m working on something different, time always goes very quickly. Buttonholing is my favourite process because I feel extremely skilled and confident in this area. I like everything about working here, from the people to the role. It’s been great learning from people with years of experience like Mike. What do I love about Manchester? It’s not the rain, but I do like the work culture. It’s better than in my country.”

Carl

5 Years Of Service

“The diversity of our staff makes my role interesting. I find it fun understanding 20 different cultures and developing a strong sense of community. The factory hosts people from multiple nationalities that may not have traditionally worked together - I help build the bridge between people of different backgrounds. As General Manager it’s my role to keep the factory alive, fly the flag for British manufacturing and support all of our staff in any way I can.”

Amy

3 Years Of Service

Amy leads our product development, playing an integral role in designing PWVC’s future collections. Currently she's working on AW23 at the design stage with our co-founder James, selecting fabrics and silhouettes. “The best thing about my role is learning new skills, every day is different. I’m currently studying a pattern cutting course at Manchester College to further my personal development and understand another stage of the production process. I live locally in Salford, it’s a great city to work and study - everything is only 15 minutes away on my bike.”
