From the 100% waterproof outer cloth, Ventile®, arguably the most high-performance cotton in the work to the exclusive 100% wool wadding insulate, every intricate design detail and nuance of this garment has been meticulously thought through. Nothing has been left to chance nor should it be when you are battling a minus 20 degrees wind and snow-storm face on.
The sleeves and body benefit from two and three layers respectively of 100% merino wool wadding to provide as much thermo-regulating comfort and protection that anyone could wish for. The wadding, weight and balance of the jacket is optimised throughout which makes the garment feel almost deceptively light when worn but don’t let the ergonomics fool you, this is a garment that will keep you very warm when it is very VERY cold.
The detachable hood is easily removed with the pull of a copper press snap. The hood is wadded with two layers of merino and is fully lined in the military grade Ventile® cotton.
Speaking of military specifications, there are a series of hand-polished copper zips from RIRI in Switzerland to facilitate unfettered access at the utmost convenience to any and all sections of the Frobisher. The weighty centre front zip has a two-way opening mechanism which is convenient when getting onto bikes and into cars. Under the button through placket lies a further Swiss made zip-secure map pocket designed to safeguard a phone or wallet that can be accesses easily without having to unfasten the main centre-front zip.
The front is armed with a total of four pockets, two external angled hand-warmers lined with 100% merino wool and two external patch pockets with bellows and flaps with button fastening. The inside is arguably more accommodating and comprehensive as there is an adjustable drawstring waist with copper adjusters and two further smartphone friendly patch pockets with copper stud secure fastening.
In summary, this is an extreme garment for extreme weather principally designed to brave the alpine winters of Nova Scotia. That said the Frobisher looks, feels, and is the part for any winter’s day, anywhere in the world.
